Laura Burden Counselling
Dip Couns. MBACP
When life gets out of balance with constant change and challenge, we can feel overwhelmed. We might be surviving, but sometimes our coping strategies run out and we no longer know what to do. I work to provide a calm, safe place to explore these difficulties.
Counselling Services
I offer service to adults and young people following an assessment. The process starts with a free 15 minute phone call on the phone or on Zoom. If we proceed from there I offer an initial assessment session at £40 for an hour to see if we both want to proceed.

Assessment session
Once we have spoken on the phone you may decide you would like yo have an assessment session. This costs £40 and lasts one hour.

Adult Counselling
Once the assessment is done, if we agree to schedule sessions these will be at the same time on the same day each week. These session are £60 for 50 minutes

Young People 11-18
When working with young people it is often necessary to have 2 assessment sessions. One for the parents and one for the child before we make the decision to proceed with weekly sessions. We can discuss this when we speak
on the phone. Cost £60 per 50 minute session.
About Me.
I am a registered BACP psychodynamic counsellor and I work with adults and children.Originally psychodynamically trained, I can work with a combination of the present and past to think about how life has shaped you and got you to this point. My focus on working with children and young people has broadened my approach in the counselling room and I can now also use many creative and play therapy techniques in my work if needed. I work to create a unique counselling relationship that is the basis for positive therapeutic change. It may be painful and difficult to tune in to our feelings and explore our surroundings. However, as we connect more authentically with our emotions, we can start to see the world with a new perspective. Growing awareness can help us understand the choices we have so we can make informed decisions. I have worked with clients managing a range of difficult issues including anxiety, bereavement, low self-esteem, stress, trauma, addiction, loneliness, divorce, depression and neglect. I have also worked with children experiencing attachment issues, bullying, exam stress and behavioural problems. Play and art therapy are an important part of the therapeutic process when working with children and young people.
As well as my private practice, I have experience working for a counselling charity and 2 years in a school in Tunbridge Wells, though each of my clients has had a unique story, I have worked with a wide variety of issues and concerns, including;
Addiction, Anger, Anxiety, Bereavement, Conflict, Cultural issues, Depression, Divorce, Domestic Abuse, Family Dynamics, Fertility and traumatic birth, Health Concerns, Identity, Intrusive Thoughts, Low Self Esteem, Menopause, OCD, Self harm, Sexual Abuse, Work Related Stress.
